Tatts Finke Desert Race
The iconic Finke Desert Race is an off-road, multi terrain two day race for bikes, cars and buggies through desert country from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community. The race is held each year on the long weekend in June.
The race is the main feature in the off road racing calendar and the King of the Desert Trophy is arguably the most sought after prize, although...just getting there and back is a victory.
The premier racing event attracts entrants from all over Australia and the world, including world-class Australian off-road and enduro motorcycle racer, Toby Price (first Australian to win the Dakar Rally) and who won the race six times.
This unique outback event is said to be one of the most difficult off-road races in the world through remote terrain of red dirt, sand and spinifex. For 3 days, up to 650 bikes and 165 buggies & trophy trucks compete annually at this one of a kind race.
The Tatts Finke Desert Race is Australia's ultimate desert race.
